Who I Am

THOMAS MALATESTA STORY

Thomas Malatesta was born in Friuli in the northeast of Italy where wine production has always been a distinctive part of the terroir. He felt in love with the wine world very young and decided to study oenology and viticulture at the University of Udine. He worked for many companies in Friuli , where he learned the art of white wine-making. Then he moved to Tuscany.

In Montalcino learned the art of the Brunello winemaking , one of the most famous Italian red wines. Finally he arrived in Chile, where he learned from a French oenologist the technique of Carbonic maceration , through which the wines are lightly red , very fragrant but also complex . When he returned home he reconnected with the old friend Marco Cecchini, where he took his very first Vendemmia in 2005 . Thanks to him they started together this new project: the MALATESTA WINES.

The philosophy is making a wine from healthy organic grapes vinified in carbonic maceration with NO addictions. A simple grape juice fermented thanks to its own strenght. Thomas believes that a natural wine ,without sulfites , clarifiers and stabilizers can transmit to the palate much more than expected and can express the real soul of the grapes and the terroir.
